It’s for her skill at judo that Kirsty Kee gets a £400 Emocommunity Sports Award in partnership with the Mary Peters Trust.The 18-year-old from Carryduff is an achiever in many sports, including athletics (running and pole-vaulting), hockey, swimming and water skiing, and has gold and other medals to prove it.In judo, the Methody student won a gold medal in the Northern Ireland Schools championships last year, and another excellent performance brought her a silver medal in the British National championships in Sheffield last October.Now she is ranked number one in Northern Ireland at junior and senior levels in the under-48kg division, and she tops the juniors in the under-52kg class.Looking ahead, she is in the Northern Ireland judo squad and aims to be in the team for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.Kirsty said: “Training for hockey and running as well as judo means I have a very busy schedule every week. “The Emo award helps make it worthwhile and the money will go towards the cost of competing in events in Britain.“I’m particularly glad that the award is associated with Dame Mary Peters, one of our greatest sporting legends.”Can you be a winner like Kirsty?
